About EASL

EASL aims to promote lifelong learning and action that improves the health, well-being and environmental sustainability of local communities.

The Eastern Alliance for Sustainable Learning (EASL) was formed in 2011 to assist member councils in delivering joint sustainable learning initiatives across the Eastern region. The alliance provides the opportunity to deliver a range of programs typically beyond the reach of individual councils.

EASL’s member councils include:

Our professional development, networking and other educational sessions are available to those within the member council areas. These sessions are primarily for teachers, parents and others within the educational community who have an interest in sustainability education. There are a limited number of sessions where those from external council areas can attend.

EASL helps to support its members in delivering their respective objectives for environmentally sustainable, resilient, thriving and engaged communities and adds value to each member Council’s existing strategies, policies and plans.

EASL provides a number of sustainability initiatives to those within the member council areas and is committed to:

  • Promoting innovative learning and teaching that fosters environmental citizenship and leadership.
  • Advocating for a strong and consistent commitment to learning for sustainability.
  • Building capacity and connectivity of local education providers and Member Councils through delivery of regional networking and effective sustainability initiatives.
  • Providing topical and accessible information for educators and students on sustainability and the environment.
