Progress Workshop at Camberwell Grammar School- Monday 30th June, 2025

Each term, The Eastern Alliance for Sustainable Learning (EASL) co-ordinates a workshop that aims to educate, empower and strengthen the networks of our ResourceSmart Schools educators and leaders. Cycling through EASL’s seven LGA’s, a school is selected to showcase their sustainability projects, in operations, culture and curriculum. Camberwell Grammar School (CGS) was chosen for term two.

A key objective of CGS is to strive towards net zero emissions by 2030. CGS’s sustainability team have set the stage for others to follow in their footsteps. CGS are generous in sharing ideas and encouraging other schools to make positive change. Over ten schools from the EASL network connected at the Progress Workshop. CGS shared how they are working towards net zero, operationally and by weaving sustainability into curriculum and culture.

Students from CGS invited us to a live demonstration of their ‘Fix the Future’ podcast, newly broadcast through the Spotify platform, while Michelle, Tristan, Will, and Jo from CGS walked us through their sustainability projects, even introducing us to their resident turtles and bees!

We heard from Elise Dunstan of Kew High school, about how their award winning eco crew work together to responsibly manage their waste and minimise their impact on the environment and Chloe Horner from the Victorian Container Scheme shared practical advice on how to turn waste into cash for your school.

As it goes with these workshops, a highlight of the day was seeing passionate, inspiring, and dedicated educators sharing stories and resources, returning to school armed with ideas! Thank you to the Camberwell Grammar School team for hosting the day, it was a fabulous event and we look forward to the next one!
